Location: Port Washington Public Library, 1 Library Place, Port Washington, NY

Library Phone: 516-883-4400 Photography Club of Long Island

7:30 PM - 9:00 PM 2/12/2020

On Wednesday, February 12. 2020 at 7:30 PM the Photography Club of Long Island (PCLI) will feature Katherine Criss, a fine art photographer, painter and collagist, speaking at the Port Washington Library on “How to Edit Art for an Exhibition”. With more than twenty years of experience in the world of art and photography, Criss has showcased her artwork in a wide variety of venues around New York and on Long Island. Criss introduced her newest art, including a challenging series of mural-sized abstractions, in her October 2019 solo exhibit, Meditations in Paint & Pixels, at the B.J. Spoke Gallery in Huntington. Of her work she says, “Just the act of living inspires and challenges me, flooding my head with questions. I work in isolation, using the language of symbols to communicate my visual message. Surrealism allows me to examine subconscious significances of imagery. When successful, I’ve created art that has a clear concept, speaking to viewers without words.” She will use this body of work to illuminate her thoughts. Criss served as president of the Professional Women Photographers organization for seven years and is presently represented by B.J. Spoke Gallery in Huntington, Long Island, in addition she shows her own work in galleries in Manhattan and in Long Island gallery spaces. From 1992-2007 she also curated and produced vintage photography installations featuring the YWCA’s 125th year celebration, and The Fashion Industry in New York City.
